COOKING CLASSES
Free classes take place once per month (last Tuesday of every month) focussing on familiar midweek meals, family favourites and will help you to reduce reliance on processed food, ready meals and takeaways.
All ingredients are included and everyone takes away everything they cook.
Classes are free although registration is required.
COOK-AT-HOME KITS
Our FREE Cook-at-Home recipe kits are ideal if you are unable to attend the classes, or simply need a bit more help with getting access to fresh food, or maybe you need a bit of recipe inspiration for home cooking to try out.
The recipe kits contain everything you need, including all your ingredients, recipe cards and recipe tutorial videos.
Kits will be available to collect from venues in Fenham.

The reasons behind this grant funded project
The Cook Together project aims to support residents of Fenham who are experiencing a sense of food insecurity or have other barriers to cooking from scratch that could negatively impact their health and wellbeing. This programme has been designed to offer a pathway away from food insecurity and reliance on emergency food support. Empowerment is central to our approach, focusing on helping people develop coping strategies, resilience, and agency, particularly during economic hardships. We aim for the programme to result in people prioritising good food choices, structuring meal times into every day, cooking more often from basic ingredients at home, reducing their reliance on ultra processed foods/ready meals/takeaways - and most importantly finding their expereince with food as a positive one where issues of money, time and mental health are not a barrier.
